3 Value Bombs
1. In the age of AI, output is the price of admission, judgment is the competitive edge.
2. Your AI moat is your private data, instincts, innovation, and relationships.
3. Don’t automate everything, use AI where it helps while keeping final judgment and accountability.

Today’s Audio MASTERCLASS: What’s Still Yours: The Entrepreneur’s Real Advantage in the Age of AI
[1:41] – David shares something he believes about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
- Output used to be the name of the game, but AI has changed that.
- Producing more is now the price of admission rather than the competitive advantage.
- The real edge is knowing which output is right, which ideas are worth keeping, and which should be discarded.
- Judgment, not sheer output, is what wins the day.
[3:20] – David talks about AI replacing humans and what should business owners be asking instead.
- Entrepreneurs should stop asking whether AI will replace them and start asking whether AI will replace or dilute the value they bring to customers.
- Fear can drive poor business decisions and cause entrepreneurs to react instead of think strategically.
- Identify the parts of the business that represent the unique value you bring to customers.
- Defend those unique-value areas while using AI strategically everywhere else.
[4:47] – David talks about what makes the AI revolution fundamentally different from previous technology hype cycles.
- Previous technology waves were often limited by resources such as money, people, and organizational capabilities.
- Large companies had a moat because they could access and deploy new technology before individual entrepreneurs could.
- AI is fundamentally different because individuals can access many of the same capabilities as large organizations.
- The tool itself is no longer the edge; the advantage is shifting toward the individual.
[6:26] – David talks about what parts of a business can no machine truly replace, and how can founders double down on those.
- Data: Your customer information, market knowledge, call notes, and accumulated private knowledge are uniquely yours.
- Instinct: Your ability to read a room and understand what is happening in a conversation comes from personal experience.
- Innovation: AI is pattern-driven, while entrepreneurs can bring genuinely new ideas and intuitive thinking to a situation.
- Relationships: AI can imitate communication, but it cannot replicate the depth of your relationships with customers, people, and the market.
- Together, these four areas form an entrepreneurial moat that technology cannot reproduce.

[13:07] – David tells why are both ignoring AI and handing everything over to AI dangerous, and what does the smart middle path look like.
- Avoiding AI entirely can leave entrepreneurs behind as competitors learn to use it as an amplifier.
- AI amplifies both the good and bad within a business, and that effect compounds over time.
- Automating everything can be equally dangerous because entrepreneurs risk automating their own judgment and becoming indistinguishable from everyone else.
- Entrepreneurs remain accountable for AI’s decisions, even though AI itself cannot be held accountable.
- The smart approach is to leverage AI without surrendering the judgment that makes the business unique.
[15:36] – David talks about how entrepreneurs can use the Monday Test to evaluate every task in their business.
- Review everything you do during a typical week and place each task into one of three buckets.
- Guard: Protect and control the things unique to you, such as relationships and proprietary data.
- Handoff: Give AI the repetitive, low-value tasks that drain your time, such as forms and draft emails.
- Build around: Let AI take the first pass on tasks that fall somewhere in between, but review and approve everything before it goes out.
- Repeat the process regularly because your business, customers, and opportunities to leverage AI will evolve.
[17:42] – David talks about what will separate entrepreneurs who thrive in the age of AI from those who get left behind.
- This may be the best moment in history to be a small business.
- Entrepreneurs don’t need to defeat massive companies by becoming massive themselves.
- Instead, they can use AI to gain the reach of a giant while maintaining the personalized service of a corner shop.
- The winners will know what to guard and what to hand off while using AI to create hyper-personalized experiences.
- The ultimate advantage comes from understanding what should always remain human.
[19:06] – Call to action.
