Nicole: Yes, I am!
Interviewer: Yes! Nicole is a love coach for powerful influential women who want to find the top 1 percent man and keep him. Nicole, take a minute, fill in some gaps from that intro and give us just a little glimpse of your personal life.
Nicole: Yeah, so I mean, that’s my mission on the planet. It’s really rough spreading love. I do it through women in helping powerful women find love because the honest truth is when women are in love we are seeing it all over the planet now and they change the world, right? So, that’s my mission. It’s what I do all day long and when I’m not working I’m playing with my son who is 12 months. He is amazing. He’s the love of my life and it’s just been incredible to watch him grow. So, that’s a little bit about me… working and being a momma.
Interviewer: So, I think I know from the intro that I just gave for you but if you had to say, what would you break down for Fire Nation as your No. 1 area of expertise? What is that?
Nicole: Yeah, so for me it’s marketing. It’s marketing to create raving fans. So, what I do really well is I communicate messages clearly and consistently over time in a way that has women getting on the phone with my team or with me, already saying I want to work with you. So, the marketing does a lot of the legwork of selling our programs ahead of time. So, when people get on the phone it’s, as much as possible, way more and easy, yes.
Interviewer: Now, my question to you is what’s something we (Fire Nation and entrepreneurs in general) don’t know about marketing, about your area of expertise that frankly we probably should?
Nicole: Yeah, well, I think people are still not giving away enough. So, I see this a lot in the entrepreneurial community. It’s kind of this idea of you have to trick people into buying from you and you have to kind of ration your content and not give away your best stuff. I don’t believe in that at all because I’ve seen the results in my business. So, what I do in my marketing is I always think about if somebody just consumed this piece of content. That is it. Could they get an actual real tangible result in their life that they really want? So, my secret is… I have women all across the world that email me and they have found the love of their life just by consuming my free content and that doesn’t make me mad.
I LOVE it because here is what I believe. The people that are amazing at consuming free content and getting a result from that, fantastic, but there are so many other people who will consume all your free content all day long but they’re still going to need the help and they’re going to be convinced that you’re the right person for them if you give them a specific and tangible immediate result. So, my secret is I really try and help the person with every single content that I give out. I’m not stingy and rationing everything and holding it back because someone hasn’t paid me yet.
Interviewer: Fire Nation, what is the thing that you are holding back that you just need to release? People told me I was absolutely crazy when I launched free podcast course. It’s a free course on how to create, grow, modernize your podcast in 15 days. They said, John, nobody’s going to buy your premium course (Podcaster’s Paradise) and I said, No. 1, if that’s the case that’s okay but No. 2, I don’t think that’s going to be the case and, Fire Nation, it was the best thing that I’ve done. It’s brought hundreds of thousands of people who have taken that course into my world, into my community.
Then, yes, some of them joined the paradise and they joined the premium community and I ran into some of them that don’t, but I’m helping change the world and Nicole is helping change the world. How are you helping them change the world? You’re going to do that starting with free. Now, Nicole, let’s be straight with Fire Nation. You’ve had some tough times to go along with your good times. I want to hear, not just about the tough but about the lowest of the low. Take me to your worst entrepreneurial moment. Tell us that story.
Nicole: Yeah, so it was when I couldn’t pay my staff. So, to be clear, my staff at the time was, you know, an online business manager but what happened was – and I think a lot of people can relate. When you’re growing a business sometimes you are investments are farther ahead than what you’re receiving monetarily. So, I moved to San Diego. I had gotten an apartment that was more rent than I had ever paid. I was expanding my business. I was doing all these things to grow because I knew I would get there but what happened was my merchant account shut down and I didn’t get paid for two to three months.
So, it was this period of, oh, my god, my expenses are really, really, really high and I could actually use cash coming in right now more than is already coming in. Not only that, my merchant accounts froze. I didn’t have money to pay my assistant. I actually experienced negative in my bank account. I never knew that you could have a negative number in your bank account before but you can. It was just this moment of, god, I know I’m going to get there but this moment really, really, really sucks and my assistant actually worked for me during that time. I mean, she was amazing but it felt it was really hard at the time not to feel like a failure, like can I really do this? Have I just kind of shot myself in the foot getting myself in what felt like a really big hole?
Interviewer: There you were, Nicole, and you were moving to San Diego in a new place, your business was rolling, you were investing in it, and you just had to look at the bank account and say, wow, something is not going well here. Something has got to give and, unfortunately, I’ve got to figure something out here. We all come to these situations, Fire Nation, where we are cash-trapped and we have a cash crisis, so to speak, but what did you learn from this, Nicole? What do you want to make sure our listeners get from that moment?
Nicole: Yeah, what I learned was my resourcefulness. What I learned is that I actually have what it takes to be an entrepreneur. So, when I had negative in my bank account I was focused on what’s my mindset? I actually thought about all the stories of entrepreneurs I had heard. You know, I read Richard Branson’s autobiography, for example. I heard about entrepreneurs who in the exact moment. One entrepreneur said… he was like, “I went to a mastermind and I was eating protein packets because that’s all I had but I saw that they were successful.” So, what I told myself was, wow, maybe this is my moment. Maybe a lot of entrepreneurs go through this and if I can get through this successfully, that’s going to show myself I have what it takes.
So, I had to become very resourceful. I had to figure out how to make it work in that moment and it actually gave me an incredible amount of strength to realize that being a successful entrepreneur is not about, you know, how much money you have or your success in this moment because it all goes up and down. But I think a successful entrepreneur knows how to be resourceful in those hard moments and, at the same time, always has the idea of success in their mind. Like, what I didn’t give up on in that moment really was my vision of success and because I told myself I am just like all these other entrepreneurs. Look at how much Richard Branson has made and lost and he has come back again.
It really strengthened my belief in myself in a way that I don’t think I would have gotten there if I just had a straight road to success.
Interviewer: Nicole, what’s the greatest idea you’ve had to date? Like, what is that aha moment that just really took you to the level where you’re at now? Take us to that aha moment. Tell us that story.
Nicole: Yes. What I realized was I had to solve the problem that would help more of my clients be successful. So, I’ll tell you what I mean by that. You know, in my work, I’m helping women find the love of their life and I have yearlong programs and I noticed that the women that started the program already having leads… meaning a lot of dates. They did better but I noticed this thing with the chronically single women, the women who are like, “I cannot get a date to save my life” were harder to help. So, I noticed that they didn’t have the same results as the clients who started in a different place when they started the program.
I’m not the kind of coach or entrepreneur who is just like, okay, whatever, sink or swim. If you get the results, or not, I don’t care. I really wanted to have a high success rate in my programs and I realized I have to solve the problem for those people who are not getting a lot of dates or who are not getting a lot of leads. So, everyone is in the same place when they start the program, meaning I had to help my clients be successful with the knowledge that I was giving them. So, I created an eight-week program. It’s called, “Man Attraction Bootcamp”.
It’s literally like how do you get more leads? But that program generated multiple six-figures in the first launch, right, and then what happened was the women who did that program were so incredibly happy and amazing and successful, the up-sale into my yearlong program was over 30 percent. It was easier than it’s ever been and I had a more appreciative client because of this program. So, I didn’t just stop at take my program, get the results. I really felt like I had to actually help the client get rid of what was blocking them of being successful in the program in the first place.
Interviewer: Fire Nation, you will win if your clients win. Think about that. You will win if your clients, if your customers, if your people win and that funnel Nicole is talking about is great where – it’s a stepping stone. You know, again, for me it’s free podcast course and do a completely free podcast master class webinar and then I’m saying, okay, now maybe it’s time for Podcaster’s Paradise. You guys have already consumed over 20 hours of my free content. How many hours of content are your potential customers, clients, and people consuming of yours? It’s got to be big and that eight-week course Nicole did change everything. She had a 30 percent uptake rate on that. That’s absolutely incredible stuff. So, Fire Nation, understand the funnel. Make sure you have that process in place. Now, Nicole, what is the one thing that has you most fired up today?
Nicole: Right now, I’m fired up about Rock Star Love Coach, so what I’m doing is I am now training women to be successful in love coaching distress. I had so many clients coming to me and saying, “I want to do what you’re doing.” I noticed that although my program is a love program, so many women did my program and decided to be a love coach or a life coach. It seems like they got this fire in them that not only can they have the love of their life, they can also have a really great business too. So, that program has all of my heart and attention right now and we’re launching it in February. I’m just really excited to create what I call love leaders.
So, it’s not just me being at the top of this, you know, organization and being the teacher. I’m really going to create other teachers to help spread the message of love and that just makes me so incredibly excited.
Interviewer: Now, what would you say to those people who would kind of step back and be like, aren’t you just creating competition for yourself?
Nicole: I don’t believe in that. I really don’t believe in that because, first of all, I really think every single person needs help in their love lives because even the people posting on Facebook that they have a great relationship – trust me, I am talking to them and I know it’s not what it appears. So, I want love coaching to get to the place, honestly, where it’s just as normal as a therapist where every single person on the planet had a love coach. I see that as my mission because I strongly believe that when people are happy in romantic relationships, they are better people for everyone else around them. So, I think the more the merrier, you know. I will always have a lot of clients. I’m not worried about creating competition.
Interviewer: Fire Nation, you can have two mindsets. The mindset of scarcity, which is thinking that you’re creating competition and that if somebody takes a piece of the pie it’s a smaller pie for you or the mindset of abundance where you just recognize that we live in this abundant world where life is good and if we help others, all is going to be good. We’re just doing the right thing and the good thing, so have that mindset of abundance. Now, we’re about to enter the Lightning Rounds but before we do let’s get a quick minute to thank our sponsors. Nicole, are you ready to rock the Lightning Rounds?
Nicole: I am!
Interviewer: What was holding you back from becoming an entrepreneur?
Nicole: A massive amount of self-doubt and lack of confidence. So, I totally had that at the beginning. Can I do this? Can I really help people? I really had a tremendously overwhelming amount of self-doubt. It’s actually funny now to look back at where I was then. I’m really glad I didn’t let it stop me but I just had a ton of fear.
Interviewer: What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
Nicole: So, what really, really helped me was when I heard – and this is from a book called Turning Pro, but to not operate my business based on my feelings but to operate my business based on my commitment. So, what I was doing in the past was working when I felt like it or if I had a bad day or if something happened I would be the kind of person that wouldn’t fulfill my commitment for that day. When I decided to turn pro… when I decided that my business was my priority and I was going to show up for it no matter what, I actually tripled my business that year.
Interviewer: What’s a personal habit that contributes to your success?
Nicole: Okay, so this might sound a little esoteric but it really, really works and it’s checking in with my energy before I do anything with my business. What I mean by that is I ask myself, “Am I creating this out of a place of love or am I creating this out of a place of fear?” So, for example, you can write an email to your newsletter list from the place of I need to get – I’m in scarcity – I need to get clients. For me, that’s coming from fear. Or you can write it from a place of love. When you’re focused on what do you want to give to that person? So, what I’ve noticed for myself is that when you take an action in an energy of fear the result that comes is not what you want.
So, I do work very committedly right now but I always check in with where my energy is at first and if I need to I realign it by meditating, journaling, whatever, to get myself into the right energy first and then I go and do my work.
Interviewer: Recommend one internet resource.
Nicole: I’m really liking Moment right now. It’s an app where you can track how much you’re spending time on your phone or different apps like social media and, for me, it was quite alarming honestly to see I’m spending so much time on Instagram, for example. But it’s really made me think about how I want to spend my time differently, especially now that I have my son, Luke. And it’s helped me disconnect from the things that were distracting me because when you see in front of your face, you’ve spent two hours on Instagram, for example. It’s kind of really, really sobering.
Interviewer: Recommend one book and share why.
Nicole: I will recommend Turning Pro, the book that I mentioned. So, I think everyone who wants to do any creative work or have a really great business should read this book because it will simply help you work way better.
Interviewer: Steven Pressfield and, Fire Nation, I will say it’s a great audiobook, so if you’re not already an audible member, you can actually get this book for free by going to eofirebook.com and, Nicole, I want to end today on fire with you giving us (Fire Nation) a parting piece of guidance, sharing the best way that we can connect with you, and then we’ll say goodbye.
Nicole: Well, the guidance I will say is be connected to your goals and what you want to get and why, right? I want to reach, whatever, eight figures or seven figures. Be connected to that but then give. So, I think it was Zig Ziegler who said, and I’m paraphrasing… if you help enough people get what they want, you’re going to get what you want, and I really subscribe to that philosophy. I recommend others do too. So, it’s like once you know what your goal is, focus on the other person and what they’re going to get and how they’re going to benefit from your service. Let that be the thing that drives you because I find that if you work from that space you get all the things. You reach all your goals. You get the things that you want.
Where you can find me is loveworksmethod.com and I do have a free gift. I know there are men listening to this too.
