All The Hacks – An award-winning podcast that will teach you to upgrade your life, money and travel.
3 Value Bombs
1) We’re all obsessed with something. There’s something that we optimize beyond what the average person does because we just care and we know everything about it.
2) You don’t have to be involved in as many things, and the more you can delegate and outsource and trust your team, the more effective you can be.
3) Show that you are going to be there when this is hard. Because invariably, everything is hard.

Today’s Audio MASTERCLASS: From Idea to Exit: Lessons from a Podcast Host
[1:17] – Chris shares something that he believes about becoming successful that most people disagree with.
- Success is often too external and not internal. If you love what you’re doing and other people make more than you, who cares? If you can live a life and you’re happy, that’s far more important.
[2:19] – Chris’ AH-HA! moment and decision to take that leap.
- You’ll never necessarily be told what to do. Sometimes it just has to happen to you.
- Think of everything as a time bound experiment. It’s not about not having a job. It’s about sustaining yourself for long enough to see if it works.
[4:04] – Chris talks about the fundraising process.
- It’s always better to raise money from people who can lose it. There’s a lot of pressure when you know your friends lives and well-being – or their family’s lives and well-being – is dependent on your outcome.
- There’s got to be something about your business that you think makes it not investable, so just call it out upfront.
[8:56] – Being good at recruiting, leading, and motivating.
- When you find something that you really like, be willing to go all in and commit to it.
- Understand the process, ask lots of people who’ve run that process before, and build those allies who are willing to share.
- The best employees make all the difference, so spend your time there.
- You don’t have to be involved in as many things, and the more you can delegate and outsource and trust your team, the more effective you can be.

[16:45] – Things Chris learned related to venture capital.
- There are 3 things to look out for: smart and passionate founders, a big addressable market, and traction.
- The ability to convey your passion and get people excited about things is huge.
- Show that you are going to be there when this is hard. Because invariably, everything is hard.
[20:16] – Life, money, and travel — how has Chris optimized these?
- He knew there had to be a way to do things without having to spend as much. He found ways to cut back on the amount things cost without cutting back on the experience.
- Almost all credit cards have some form of benefits that you probably have never read or thought about.
- Try to read the fine print, figure out the optimizations, figure out how to make everything work so you’re not leaving anything on the table.
