He is Mr. Biohacker himself. We are going to be talking today about the uncommon biohacks to reverse biological aging and optimize your daily performance. And wow, I took so many notes during this interview. We’re going to be talking about Anthony taking himself and being Patient Zero on a very controversial anti-aging protocol, some really interesting things going on there.
We’re going to be talking about three easy to-go meals that take less than five minutes to prep, which is going to be super awesome and cool, and we’ll also be getting into the biggest public health mistake that was made in the 20th century. Because I have Anthony on the line here, and we’re going to be talking about the uncommon biohacks to reverse biological aging and optimize your daily performance.
I mean, these are things that listen – you want to crush it as an entrepreneur, Fire Nation, I get it. You want to make millions of dollars, I get it. But none of that is really going to matter if in 2011, like Anthony was, you’re on your deathbed. If you’re not full of life and enjoying it. If you’re not able to just have energy, and happiness, and to feel great, and to look great, you need to have the combination of business success, and health and wellness success to really have total life success, in my opinion. That’s what I’ve experienced, at least.
Since I’ve been rocking and rolling in this business for over six years, and I’ve absolutely said, this is my touch stone. So, what I really want to do is have Anthony give us a real quick run-down, maybe just a couple quick teasers, Anthony, of what we’re going to talk about. Then, I really want to dive into this because man, we have some cutting-edge stuff to talk about.
Anthony: Yeah! So, we’re going to be talking about some really exciting things. So, the first is, helping people reverse their biological aging. And realizing first and foremost that we have so much more control over how quickly we age than we ever thought. And for decades, we’ve put a lot of weight into genetics and feeling like these types of things were outside of our influence. And what we’re seeing now, and what the scientific literature is revealing is that with the right lifestyle, with the right habits, with the right daily detoxification strategies, and perhaps most importantly, addressing the personalized things that we need to keep our energy powerhouses of our cells our mitochondria working at a youthful level, keep our cells from accumulating toxins, we can slow down the rate at which we age, and it’s very possible for someone to be in their 60’s, in their 70’s, and have the cellular health of someone in their 20’s and 30’s.
So, we’re going to be getting into some of the things that I’m doing as Patient Zero on some exciting anti-aging work that’s taking place at biohacking HQ, we’re going to be talking about how to help people optimize their daily routine to get more out of their relationships, their spiritual practice if they have one, their finances, their business, and make health a little bit more effortless for them, because there’s a lot of ways to get to an end result, and there’s usually a long road, and a short road. And having some of these best practices in your toolkit can be indispensable assets in giving you the quality of life that you want. And we’re going to get into a whole bunch of really cool stuff, I’m excited to hang out with everybody.
John: Yeah. And that’s one of the many things, Fire Nation, I love about AD, is that he’s not like this guy that’s just laser focused on like, “Listen, you need to be taking your blood pressure every five minutes and doing blood and all this stuff.” Like, he realizes that we’re living life. That we are busy people, and that we need to find a way to make this stuff full spectrum. That health and wellness absolutely needs to be a priority. But listen, you need to generate revenue, you need to make money. Listen, you need to have time to spend with your family, your friends, your loved ones. You need to have time to have fun and go out and have some food.
And by the way, this is probably a good segue into me investing in myself to actually go spend a day with Anthony and his incredible sidekick Carrie for a “decade in a day” where we just spent the entire day going through what I consider AD’s genius, which is just everything that I can do and implement into my life – in a very manageable way, by the way, Fire Nation – to just see vastly superior results to what I was currently doing beforehand. So, I spent an entire day with Anthony and Carrie in Del Rey. We did some sprints, I found out that I was faster than Anthony, but I was slower than Carrie. No big deal. No big deal.
But it was a lot of fun, overall. I did an Instagram story, which by the way is still one of my most engaged Instagram stories, I was just doing everything from plunge pools to battle ropes. Which by the way, Anthony, I’ve now bought battle ropes because I love them so much, I have them now in my gym here which is so cool. And I spent an entire day with this guy, Fire Nation, so I want you to know that this guy is the real deal. He is somebody who I’ve spent time with, who I’ve broken bread with, we went and had oysters afterwards, it was an amazing, amazing day, and I’m just excited that he’s going to impart some of his wisdom.
He can’t impart everything, because his wisdom is just so expansive, but some of his wisdom with you here today. But of course, we’re going to give you a way that you are going to be able to get more of his wisdom. And the best part is, it’s not going to be for any financial investment. So, Anthony, why in the world did you make yourself Patient Zero on this new – and by the way, super controversial – anti-aging protocol, and let’s be honest, it did lead to an unexpected breakthrough in reversed biological aging. So, break down that process for us.
Anthony: Yeah, a lot of this comes back to the motivation that stemmed from what happened in 2011. And I think it’s a lot of what motivates you in the business space, which is we’ve gone through that pain. And the strongest steel is forged in the hottest fires. And at the same time, the pain that you and I have experienced, you in creating an amazing business that influences millions of people all over the world, me in creating a system that helps people optimize their physical and mental performance, I don’t want people to have to make the same mistakes. And I want to shortcut that journey for people so that they can get to what really matters, which is loving their life and living their dreams.
I think everything comes down to the fact that we all want to feel good. When you really ask, “Why?’ enough times, somebody wants to lose weight, or they want to have more energy, or they want to – whatever, insert their health goal here, it comes down to that they want to feel good, they want to love their life, and they want to be the greatest expression of themselves, and truly leave their mark on this planet. And I made so many mistakes. I was at rock bottom, and whenever possible, I want to help people to circumvent some of those pain periods, knowing that pain is an important part of the journey, and it helps us to be more grateful for what we have, so when we’re – I didn’t really appreciate just how important an how much of a role our health plays in our ability to achieve our dreams with our business, and have the type of relationships that we want, and connect with other people.
And everything else that is the – it’s one of the biggest force multipliers in our life, if not the biggest. And I didn’t appreciate that until it was taken away from me, and much the same way that we don’t appreciate oxygen until we’re dying for a breath, right? And I want to help people get there faster so that we can all spend more of our time there. And I truly believe that the next level of. A breakthrough in consciousness at a worldwide level will happen when more of us are just feeling good and living life as the greatest expression of ourselves.
So, that’s what motivates me to help people reverse biological aging, reverse some of the symptoms that can keep us feeling pain, fatigue, brain fog, and I made myself Patient Zero on a number of interventions that when stacked, we are finding create a one plus one equals three, equals five effect in lengthening telomeres, one of the greatest benchmarks of biological aging. In increasing heartrate variability. Something that is very difficult, if not impossible for many people to do through the traditional pathways of just diet, and exercise, and meditation, and hacking your sleep hygiene.
The stuff that a lot of people are now doing, especially members of Fire Nation who are hip to the game of having a routine that serves them. And we’re getting some incredible results and seeing some really exciting things. Yes, it involves a lot of poking and prodding, and tracking biomarkers, but that’s more so just to justify that the juice is worth the squeeze, and that this is something that will replicate and prove to be predictable, replicable, and consistent with other people, not just me.
John: So, Fire Nation is hip to the routine, thank you for saying that AD. But I definitely love that phrase. And Fire Nation, I did hope you caught one of those earlier quotes that Anthony said during that little rant right there, which is “the strongest steel is forged in the hottest fire.” So, just remember that. The strongest steel is forged in the hottest fire. So, when you’re going through tough times, when you’re pushing yourself to the limit, when you’re freaked out because you’re about to go crush a stage, and you’re just terrified of speaking publicly, that’s when the strongest steel is absolutely forged. Now, Fire Nation, Anthony, is busy. I’m “busy”.
We are all pressed for time, because we just love as humans to fill every single waking moment with something. Like, we freak out when we’re doing nothing. So, because of that, we all have these packed calendars. So, regardless, of course we all need to work on that on some levels. But, give us three just easy to-go meals that can take less than five minutes to prep, but that are also at the same time going to do good for our bodies. That are going to keep our brain razor sharp, so we can be productive to the highest level. Give us three, brother.
Anthony: Yeah. So, what a lot of people don’t realize is that the greatest additions nutritionally come from subtraction. They come from removing things that are causing an inflammatory, immunogenic and allergenic effect in the body, which is fancy talk for they are causing inflammation at a cellular level because you’re at the smallest level, allergic to them. This doesn’t mean you’re going into anaphylactic shock or your throat is swelling shut, but it does mean that they may be contributing to intestinal permeability, or leaky gut which some of your listeners may be familiar with. Or, they are causing an autoimmune reaction where your body attacks itself.
And we have been led to believe that we need to just add more foods, put more super foods in your shake, and eat more of these 15 things, and you’re going to have a breakthrough in terms of your energy and focus. When in reality, for most people, cutting out grains, commercial dairy, and alcohol, or at least restricting those foods, will have the biggest impact. And there’s a lot more on that list, but those are the big three far and away that contain more of these inflammatory compounds than anything else.
John: Well, before you break into these three meals, let me just ask you a question. Because this is something that I feel like is super misunderstood when you’re talking about this inflammatory stuff is you have people that have leaky gut, like I’ve definitely struggled with that in the past, and I’m continuing to work on that. And things along those lines where their micro gut flora is just not where it needs to be, and yet what are they doing? They’re like, “Oh, well of course, I know the hip thing to do right now is to just pump in probiotics into my body, and all these prebiotics, and all this stuff.” Where the fact is, sometimes you might just be feeding that bad micro-gut flora. So, talk about that just for a second.
Anthony: That’s a great question, and a very common misconception. And what we’re seeing on a macro level, 30,000-foot view here, is we’re living in a very different modern environment. And there are really three things that can run us down and contribute to some of the gut dysfunction that is occurring at epidemic levels. And those are deficiencies, deficiencies in vitamins, minerals, and our connection with the natural world, too many barriers between us and the sun, and the earth, and just spending too much time indoors. Toxicities. Toxicities which can include the 100,000 plus manmade chemicals we are exposed to.
The chlorine, and fluoride, and bromide in our water that erodes the gut brain barrier, toxicities like non-native, unnatural electromagnetic frequencies with the amount of time that we’re spending connected to technology, and we’re now seeing studies showing that that technology can not only erode the blood-brain barrier, but also the gut barrier, and the testicular barrier in men. And we’re thinking all of this stuff is just biochemical, or just related to the gut flora, but it’s also very much energetic, and related to our electromagnetic environment. And then the third, is our genetic environmental mismatch.
We have genes that are designed to thrive when we are living like the wild animals that are, not to make any point here that we don’t have things that separate us from wild animals, but rather kind of going back to that point with deficiencies that we’re living very different lifestyles, and often times we’re missing out on a lot of different things that our genes, and our mitochondria, or more specifically, need to make energy. And this pattern that we’re seeing that’s contributing to a lot of gut disfunction is you have years, and years of those three things taking place and accumulating where gradually our immune system is not working the way that it is supposed to.
Our mitochondria aren’t getting what they need, and they’re being slowed down by toxins. And over time, when we are exposed to pathogens, which is something that we’re always exposed to, think about mold. We’ve been exposed to mold since the dawn of man. Parasites. Same thing. Viruses, bacteria, fungi like candida, all of these things, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth which falls into that bacteria category but is occurring at these epidemic levels. We get exposed to those things, but now we don’t have an immune system that’s working the way that it’s supposed to, to fight them off.
Now, you have pathogens that are not only eating your food, they’re making a home in your digestive tract and other parts of your body, consuming your nutrients, releasing wastes of their own that can further contribute to leaky gut and intestinal permeability, and on top of that they’re over burdening our body’s detoxification pathways. And what people are trying to do to unwind that scenario that’s taken years and decades to get a foothold is throw probiotics at it. And it’s often the same as trying to put out a fire with a squirt gun.
It’s not going to happen. In order to take care of leaky gut, and some of these problems that we’re seeing happen at unprecedented levels, we need to reverse all of those challenges that is unique to that individual and addressing the ones that are having the biggest deleterious, or negative impact on that person. Fixing their environment, helping them detoxify, getting rid of some of these pathogens where maybe the immune system needs a little bit of help. Antivirals, antibacterials. Natural ones. Antiparasitic protocols. Antifungal protocols.
Kind of resetting the gut microbiome with these protocols that we’ve developed over the years and are a part of our ultimate biohacking academy and that we talk about the biohackers guide to upgraded energy and focus, which you’ve checked out. And then, only then, when you’ve done that stuff will the right types of probiotics in the right combinations truly be efficacious.
John: I mean, Fire Nation, can you see the passion that Anthony has lit under him when he’s asked you know, what is a pretty simple question. But the problem is, nothing is super simple, because everything in our body is so affected by so many other things. And that’s why it’s important to start this learning process. And so, Anthony, I cut you off, but go into those three meals. Get real specific there.
Anthony: Take an avocado, open it up, scoop it out, put a little bit of California olive ranch, extra virgin olive oil. If you can afford an organic avocado, even better. Sprinkle some pink Himalayan salt, Premier Pink salt is my go-to brand, available on Amazon. A little bit of Bragg Nutritional Yeast, which is a vegetarian source of vitamin b12 and some other vitamins and minerals, and if you want, a little bit of Bragg Sprinkle, and you’re good to go. Right there. Loaded with fiber, loaded with nutrients, healthy fats, keeps the blood sugar low and stable. That’s meal No. 1. And a good way for a lot of people to start the day without causing that blood sugar spike, and then crash.
John: Well, let me ask you one question on here. Because I have a problem. When I’m making salads, and using avocados like this, I like to pour some balsamic vinaigrette. But I was looking at it the other day, and I was like, “There’s six grams of sugar in this.” So, what’s the deal with that?
Anthony: Yeah. So, it’s really in the context of everything that you’re consuming. And I recommend people at the beginning, until we’re able to eyeball this stuff, getting an app like Carb Manager –
Anthony: – or Cronometer, or something like that. Not because tracking food is fun, it actually sucks. And no one likes it. But we’re building a skillset, right? It’s the same way like, starting a business, you’ve got to build a number of skill sets. And not all of those skillsets are super fun as you’re learning them, but you do what it takes to get to that end point, which is the result that you’re looking for, and the life that you want.
John: Okay. So, we’ve got to track our stuff, like Carb Manager, there are some other apps like that out there Fire Nation. And again, Anthony, sorry to cut you off. But, let’s get back to those two other meals that we can eat.
Anthony: Meal No. 2 would be a huge salad with a wide variety of veggies. Lots of organic leafy greens, it can be romaine; it can be arugula, Italian mix, any of those organic lettuces. Lots of veggies, preferably green fibrous veggies to keep your blood sugar low and stable. One two three tablespoons of organic extra virgin olive oil, I like Bragg apple cider vinegar. One reason is what you mentioned earlier, with the balsamic, but balsamic isn’t a big deal if you’re getting the right total carbs per day.
John: Got it, yeah that’s such a good idea. I actually have this Bragg’s apple cider vinegar, because sometimes when I’m doing the salad, I kind of want that extra twang that of course leafy vegetables might not give, and I can see that being such an easy substitution. So, I mean, I’m not kidding, Fire Nation. I just had a huge, “yes” moment, because that’s going to happen in my household right now. And what’s No. 3?
Anthony: Yeah, No. 3 is a simple shake. And all of these can be made in less than five minutes. So, a huge shake. You get yourself a good quality protein powder. A lot of people are using whey, which is coming from commercial dairy and cows that weren’t raised in the healthiest conditions. Switching to a good plant-based protein will do the vast majority of people a lot of good. So, I like Maximum Vibrance, or Sun Warrior, or Organify Protein. All of those are great. And a can of light organic, Native Forest coconut milk. I put in a little scoop of bicolin as a nootropic, that’s an antioxidant that’s really good for the brain, and showing some promise in Parkinson’s and neurodegenerative disease, helping the brain clear out toxins.

If you didn’t do avocado earlier, and depending on your body composition goals and everything, you can put half an avocado in there, and even a tablespoon of sprouted organic chia seeds. And we are going to keep talking awesomeness. I mean, this is honestly, Fire Nation, something that I could talk about all day long. Because I am just having so much fun figuring all of this stuff out. How to upgrade my energy, how to improve my focus, it’s just fun. The body is so amazing when you’re willing to do right by your body. So, let’s talk about some things. Because there’s ketogenic diets. There’s paleo. There’s CrossFit. There’s meditation, there’s improved sleep hygiene, there’s supplements of all kinds in the world but let’s be honest. They never seem to deliver the highest level of performance. The highest level of optimization that we’re looking for.
So, what’s the reason for that? Let’s get into some detail, dispel some of this confusion that we all have of getting bombarded from all sides about all of these different things I just talked about.
Anthony: Yeah, definitely. So, imagine, our bodies and our energy is a lot like a flashlight, right? So, imagine a flashlight that has batteries that are running low. The light coming out of the flashlight is dimming, right? And what a lot of us are doing is we’re trying different things like we’re trying to swap out the flashlight bulb. But that bulb isn’t the problem. It may improve the brightness coming out of the flashlight a little bit, but until we really get to the root cause of what is interfering with our energy production, or causing us to age in an accelerated rate, we’re essentially waiting for our cat to bark, or we’re barking up the wrong tree. And we need to figure out what it is for us that is interfering with that process and address those things if we want exponential rather than incremental improvements.
John: So, Fire Nation, when Anthony was just talking about cats barking, it reminded me about the cutest dog in the world. How is that little guy doing?
Anthony: Oh, he’s doing amazing. Kumba, he’s massive. He’s growing like a weed.
John: He was so small when I was there!
Anthony: He’s huge now, man. I mean, you’d still recognize him because he looks exactly the same, he’s just a little bit bigger. But he’s loving life, he’s doing incredible, and yeah.
John: So cool.
Anthony: Well, if he barks by the way, that’s totally cool because I’d like to say, “Hi,” to him as well. But my question before we move on is just, what is the deal? I mean, what should we, Fire Nation, be thinking when everybody’s talking about all of those things? Like, ketogenic, paleo, CrossFit. Maybe a better question is how should we be approaching all of these different options?
John: Yes. I truly believe that there is a divergence occurring in society. And on one side is the Fire Nation. People who realize how important our health and most importantly, how big of an asset having the tools to influence your health and your body, and your focus, and your performance really is. And then, on the other end of that divergence is people who are getting their information exclusively from television, the news, and consequently doomed – doom is a strong word – but consequently bouncing form the next fad to the next fad hoping for the type of breakthrough results that really only come from building a skillset, right?
It’s sort of like, if you want to build a business, and you want to build one of the top podcasts in the world like you’ve done, you not only need to be persistent, but you need to learn what is missing from the content and value that you’re putting out right now, and approaching it in a systematic way to build that up. And it’s very similar with our health and performance. And that’s why, with the biohacker’s guide, and a lot of the information that we create, we’ve made a conscious effort to help people build that skillset to self-diagnose to a certain degree.
And then based on the results of those self-diagnostic tools and those health assessments, implement best practices that are relevant to them. So, for some people, it may be diet. That’s a percentage of the population, and some of those people may be eating too many carbs, and they may have health issues that require they produce greater amounts of ketones, which is one of the things that happens when we consume a ketogenic diet. But that’s not everyone. And we want to make sure that this personalized approach is being applied, and that’s part of the reason that we also do our best to make the acquisition of this information fun and entertaining. Because it can get kind of dry and boring, and we want to make this a fun journey for everybody.
Because when you have these skills as you know, JLD, it’s an amazing asset to have. And it’s an incredible feeling of control, and power, when you can make these changes in your body, and your mind, and have a predictable, consistent state of high performance in your back pocket.
John: I mean, one thing that I want to throw in here Fire Nation, is that if it sounds or looks like a shortcut, it’s probably not for you. Just recognize that. So, this is a pretty bold statement, Anthony, but I really want you to dissect this and just break it down for us. What is the biggest public health mistake of the 20th century?
Anthony: Hands down, the fear surrounding exposure to the sun. Now, the caveat is don’t go out there and burn, because that is where some of these risks of skin cancer and melanoma can occur. But, at epidemic levels, we’re seeing Vitamin D, and more specifically, sunlight deficiency. And that sunlight is what tunes our immune system. It’s what tunes our circadian rhythm. The 2017 Nobel Prize was awarded to three gentlemen who found that our cells actually work a lot like clocks. And with the accumulation of certain proteins, and the release of those proteins that occurs based on our exposure to the sun and darkness that influences all of our body’s hormonal systems.
Our health, our ability to clear toxins from the brain, like beta-amyloid plaque and tau proteins that are linked to all of these neurodegenerative disorders that are shooting up the list of top causes of death in America and other parts of the world at an accelerated rate, and we need that sunlight, and we don’t get it from just taking a Vitamin D supplement. That gets us some of the benefits, but it certainly doesn’t get us all of the benefits. So, getting more sunlight, specifically in the morning to your eyes, and lots of exposed skin, treating your body like a solar panel and removing some of those barriers that we’ve put between us and the natural world will make a world of difference.
Just like you’re doing with your 30 minutes to fill your well and read information that inspires and uplifts you, all of us can find ways to do that if we just ask, “How can I make this more a part my life?” And those benefits will pay dividends in the form of improved immune function, improved, increased energy and performance, better health, better mitochondrial function, and everything that the Fire Nation is looking for.
John: So, Fire Nation is diverse. We have 145 countries listening in, and some people frankly, live in places where there’s just not a lot of sun. Where there’s a lot of clouds, where it’s dark, it’s rainy for a lot of the winter months, et cetera, et cetera. What are some things you recommend for people that live in those situations?
Anthony: Oh, how I empathize and identify with you folks. I’m a man that was born and raised in Chicago, in the Midwest. And we know from a lot of the data and scientific studies that the magic, at least in terms of Vitamin D, which again is only one aspect of the benefits we get from the sun. but a lot of that magic happens below the 37th parallel. So, if you look at the latitude lines, there’s the 37th parallel, and it’s way easier for those of us, you and I are part of that now –
John: Thank goodness.
Anthony: – below the 37th parallel to get Vitamin D. So, you and I, in half an hour outside, will be able to get the Vitamin D and benefits of the sun that may take someone up in Toronto Canada 90 minutes to get, right? So, as someone who really values my time, and is always looking for some of these hacks, and ways to get more out of everything that I do, I made the decision to move from Chicago down to Del Rey Beach, Florida, and it’s been one of the greatest decisions that I ever made.
Anthony: So, that was an extreme version.
John: Well, let me break in real quick Anthony. Because I just want Fire Nation to recognize how unlikely you are, if you’re in the United States to be below the 37th parallel. Because unless you are on a state that is touching the ocean, and by the ocean I mean the Gulf of Mexico slash Mexico slash being below around Los Angeles, a little north of Los Angeles, actually. But not too far north. But we’re talking, you have to be essentially in Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, or one of those other very southern states like Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana. If you’re in any place that I didn’t just mention, like, we’re talking Denver, I mean specifically Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, even those states, even though they’re pretty far south, they’re still above the 37th parallel.
So, it’s very likely a lot of you are above the 37th parallel in the US. It’s just a fact, it’s sad, but true. But yeah, keep going Anthony.
Anthony: That’s a great point. And, that’s only half the battle, right? So, the other half is getting your ass outside. So, my brother, who spent a decade living in Africa, specifically Cairo, Egypt. One of my clients, Catherine, who lives in Florida – my brother and Catherine both, and may other people but those are just two recent examples – we looked at their bloodwork, and they were at Vitamin D levels of like, someone who spent the past 30 years in solitary confinement. And so, we need to not just be in those places, but it needs to be part of our routine the same way that you’ve taken this and said, “Okay, how can I do that? This is a way that works for me.” And then it’s now a consistent part of the way that you live your life. We all need to do that.
John: Oh, you would love my new routine, actually. I actually just posted a video online where I’m doing rebounding facing the sun, taking it in, then I’m reading and doing journaling, right with the sun, right in the morning. So, I’m taking your advice, brother. But Fire Nation, this is a learning process for me. A year ago, six months ago, I wasn’t doing this, and I live in flippin’ Puerto Rico, what was I thinking? So, back to you, AD.
Anthony: That’s beautiful, man. And I’m excited for us to link up sometime and do a workout in Puerto Rico.
John: Yes! I can’t wait.
Anthony: See what you’ve got going on.
John: Open invite, open invite.
Anthony: Yeah. That’ll be amazing.
John: You actually have no excuse to get down here, by the way. It’s not like you have a wife and all these kids running around or anything.
Anthony: That I do not. So, an easy benchmark for people who are saying, “Well how do I know? When is enough, enough?” And optimal would be as much sun as you can get without burning that also works with your schedule, right? And including a combination of the morning sunlight which is higher in UVA that has a lot of those benefits for our immune system. And a quick tangent, Jack LeLane, who was the picture of health, died at 96 due to pneumonia because of immune senescence. Because of this slow deterioration in immune function that happens inevitably, but especially if we don’t have the right habits to keep our immune function firing and keep our immune function working the way that it’s supposed to.
So, getting that morning sunlight for the UVA, and keeping our immune system tip top. That UVB in the afternoon which you can find using an app like DMinder Pro, I believe is the name of it. And that can tell you based on your geographic location what time is best for optimizing Vitamin D, how much time you want to spend outside without burning. So, that’s a huge asset for Fire Nation. And then the third step would be getting a blood test. One of the ones I go to a lot is the Life Extension Male or Female Elite Panel, and looking at your blood Vitamin D levels, preferably without them being influenced just by supplementation.
If you’re doing this stuff through actual sunlight, that is going to get you the best possible results, because that also taps into quantum physics, and some of these things that are happening at an atomic level. And getting your Vitamin D levels preferably without supplementation above 70. And when those three things are happening, you can be pretty damn sure that you’re going to be kicking ass in a lot of areas, and your health is going to be optimized. But, if you can’t get there with just natural sunlight, or you live in a part of the world that makes it really, really difficult, then Vitamin D supplementation takes a second place.
John: One thing that I really have a hard time with are just – I’m getting bombarded left and right with this supplement for this, that supplement for that, and I really do know that especially when your body is deficient in certain things, supplements can be a really big help, and a big boost at getting you back to where your body is functioning, and maybe doesn’t need those supplements to the same level, or even at all sometimes. But one thing I really want you to go into, because I think this is super important is about the supplement stack that you’ve found that can actually reverse your brain’s functional age by a decade in just six weeks. So, what does that look like?
Anthony: Yeah, so this is super exciting. One of the things that we’re doing with our one on one clients is many of them are like us, entrepreneurs where they care a lot about their health, and it’s also living in a way where that health translates to getting more out of the time that you put into your business. Because I think all of us have been working on a project where you can spend all day working on it, and you look back on the day and you’re like, “I didn’t do – how did I spend so much time on this and accomplish nothing?” And similarly, you’ve got a challenge that maybe you’ve been working on for a long time, and then you have one or two hours of clairvoyance and focus, and you get more done than you could in the previous weeks combined, right?
So, we want to spend more time in that state. And this stack is something that we put together for a lot of our one on one clients to help them do that. And one of the ingredients, there’s a number of different supplements, but the one that has a lot of really, really exciting research behind it that will make for a good story and case study is it’s called magnesium-L-threonate. And it’s a form of magnesium that is different from the magnesium that people are taking if they’re taking magnesium because most magnesium like magnesium glyconate, or magnesium malate is systemic.
And it’s very important, it helps with replicating the mitochondria, the little energy powerhouses of your cells through a process called mitochondrial biogenesis, but it also doesn’t effectively cross the blood-brain barrier. So, why is this important? Well, when we have a form of magnesium, like magnesium-L-threonate that crosses the blood-brain barrier, some magic happens. And the magic, in the most simplest form, is called neurogenesis. It’s the formation of new neural connections in the brain. And there was a study done at MIT over six weeks where they gave participants either nothing, or 1,500 milligrams of magnesium-L-threonate daily.
And before the test began, they did a battery of cognitive assessments, and they got a baseline value of everyone’s brain’s functional age. And then they did the same test after six weeks of supplementation with half the people taking nothing, and half the people taking 1,500 milligrams of magnesium-L-threonate. And what they found was that the people who were taking magnesium-L-threonate at the dosage of 1,500 milligrams a day had a decrease in their brain’s functional age of almost a decade. It was around 9.5 years in a period of just six weeks. Which, if that was a pharmaceutical drug, would immediately be a billion-dollar drug. And that’s one of the things that we include in our stack that’s producing huge results for people.
